Introduction
Snow City is an industrial tale about a new source of energy and a civilization that will arise around it. Appealing to the aesthetics of modernist architecture, the project creates controversial image of the most beautiful idea of the modernist project [usage of the energy of an atom] with an intention to turn to its the most dangerous failure [tragedies of Chornobyl and Fukushima]. As a dystopia Snow City is a warning sign that points at the energy trap that humanity has fallen into: energy resources are limited and exhausted, their extraction and processing are unsafe and damage the environment, while distribution of resources determines distribution of power and capital as within the world, as in an every single country in itself.
Tale
Snow City is a city of the future, built by the survivors of the nuclear winter. It is
surrounded by Deep River, covered in thick ice, and High Wall, that touches the sky. Numerous Ice Bridges guide to the city. In the center of the city on a hill there are Snow
Institutes and TV-Tower. They are located in huge Snow Park and are surrounded by Frozen Lakes and Frozen Fountains. Opposite the central entrance is Snow Museum that represents Snow samples (Snowflakes). Slopes of the hill piled up with Snow Factories that produce Snow. Radially from Snow Factories diverges railways that transport Snow to Snow Stations. In Industrial Zone, located on outskirts, at Snow Stations energy is extracted from Snow and accumulated into Snow Batteries. Industrial Zone is circled by Collectors with Processed Snow. Through ports in Wall it is taken away from the city. Snow Wastes are buried amidst Icebergs. Snow City is encompassed by deserted Iceberg Valley. When the weather is fine it is possible to cross it on helicopters. But Valley is changeable and numerous remains are buried under the thick ice. When the ice in the valley weakens, icebreakers transport Snow Batteries from the city.
